Problem with the cooling fan coming on...

The CCRM should be clicking a relay for the fan. Check to see if the relay is still ok first if yo were just giving straight power to the fan. If not then it's possible that the CCRM and PCM aren't communicating. I don't know the cost of a new CCRM but im sure it isn't cheap. I'm guessing between $300-500 for the part, and im sure you can't get it anywhere but a Ford dealer or a junk yard.

Car is a 1997.

I dont have a voltmeter is there a backwoods way I can test then? Maybe give a small charge to it listen for a click I dunno.
Yup that should work. Just give it some power and see if it clicks. As for location of the relay, check in the main fuse rely (power distribution center) in the engine compartment for the relay. If the relay is ok, i forgot that the cooling fan also works in conjunction with the ECT (engine coolant temp sensor) as well. Your car is OBD II which should pick up on that but never rule it out. Also, the fan is a 2 speed set up on these cars. Does the high speed fan come on when the AC is on? Post back up and let us know how its going
